A $6.6 million facility to cultivate and process cannabis could be coming to Milton.
One of the state’s biggest sellers of CBD products and medical marijuana, CeresMED, has applied for an Act 250 permit to build the facility in the Catamount Industrial Park.
The facility would feature a 48,000 square foot main building with a 672 square foot greenhouse accessory.
CeresMED, formerly the Champlain Valley Dispensary, was awarded the first license in the state to open a dispensary in 2012 in Burlington after the Vermont Marijuana for Symptom Relief Act passed in June 2011, according to their website.
High Fidelity Inc., the parent company of CeresMED, applied for the permit on Oct. 4.
Act 250 is Vermont’s land use and development law that was enacted in 1970, according to the Vermont Natural Resources Board website.
The law provides a public and quasi-judicial process for reviewing and managing major developments in the state with the intent of making sure larger developments complement Vermont’s unique landscape and community needs, the website reads.
