CUMMINGTON — A community outreach meeting will be held this Monday at 7 p.m. to discuss a proposed marijuana cultivation business on Bryant Road.
The meeting will take place at the Cummington Community House at 33 Main St. and is being put on by 0 Bryant Rd LLC to discuss its plans, the site and its adherence to state Cannabis Control Commission regulations. A link to the meeting via Zoom is also set to be published at bryantrdllc.com.
Ted Shagory, a spokesperson for 0 Bryant Rd LLC, said the meeting is to both explain the company’s plans and to hear feedback from the community.
“We’re looking forward to that experience,” Shagory said.
A number of people in the company live in Cummington, including its CFO, Shagory said, and he himself has lived in town since 2020.
“We are a local group excited to bring economic opportunities to the community,” Shagory said.
The company is looking to build a 20,000-square-foot indoor cannabis grow facility.
“Everything that we’re proposing is in line with the Cummington bylaws,” he said.
The company is interested in patronizing local businesses and working with farmers and other local people, Shagory said, and has already had discussions with local farmers. “I am constantly amazed at the things that I learn from them,” he said.
Shagory said the project would create 15 to 20 full-time positions over time.
“We’re trying to sensibly grow into this,” he said.
Select Board Chair Eliza Dragon said the proposed site is currently known as 0 Bryant Road, because there are no structures on it.
The company has submitted a host community agreement to the Select Board, Dragon said, which the board plans to take up after the community outreach meeting. She said the group has been working closely with the Planning Board, Zoning Board of Appeals and the Select Board to make sure that Cummington’s laws are followed, and that she’s found them pleasant to work with.
