REDDING, Calif. – A morning call concerning “suspicious behavior” ended on Friday morning with the arrest of three people on charges ranging from gun possession to drug sales. Some of those arrested were also charged with violating their probation or parole terms.
Officers responded to the call just before 9:00 a.m. on Friday to the 19500 block of Medovale Lane and said they discovered two men standing around a vehicle. According to deputies, one of the men gave several false names to them during their investigation. He was eventually identified as 24-year-old Governor Wright.
Arrests made
Guns and ammunition found
The other man was 32-year-old Phillip Titus, who police said was “in care and control of the vehicle.” Titus had outstanding warrants for his arrest and was discovered to be on Post Release Community Supervision out of Siskiyou County
During the investigation of the vehicle and of Wright and Titus, two women approached the scene, according to deputies. 18-year-old Layla Titus was one of the women, who was eventually released by the deputies without any charges, because deputies did not believe she was involved in the criminal acts exposed during the investigation.
The other woman was 29-year-old Audrea Hilton. Sheriff’s officers said on Saturday morning that Hilton “became confrontational” and was detained for outstanding warrants and for “officer safety.”
The 24-year old man, Governor Wright, started to flee at this point and ended up being detained after a struggle. Deputies said he was evaluated by medics and was not injured during the arrest.
There were two arrests for possession of firearms. Wright had several in the vehicle according to investigators.
Hilton, the 29-year-old woman that deputies said was “confrontational,” was found to be in possession of a pistol.
Philip Titus was arrested for outstanding warrants and for marijuana sales after a large amount of cannabis was found in the vehicle.
Hilton and Wright were arrested for their outstanding warrants, for carrying loaded and concealed weapons, in addition to being felons in possession of firearms and ammunition. Wright was also arrested for giving false identification.
The Shasta County Sheriff’s Office said the California Highway Patrol helped them with the incident.
The Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone with further information on this case should call SHASCOM at (530) 245-6540.
