PLYMOUTH MEETING, PA — A medical marijuana dispensary may soon be opening up on a commercial strip in Plymouth Meeting.
Verilife, which lists locations in Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New York, Ohio and Pennsylvania, announced that a dispensary would soon open up at 601 West Germantown Pike in Plymouth Township.
The location is within a small commercial strip center that also includes the Mission BBQ restaurant.
The company’s website states that the dispensary will be “coming soon,” but it does not offer an anticipated opening date.
Patch reached out to Verilife to try and confirm a planned opening date but did not immediately hear back.
Plymouth Township Manager Karen Weiss confirmed that a dispensary is poised to open at that location. She told Patch that under Pennsylvania’s medical marijuana law, dispensaries are permitted wherever retail sales are allowed, and no planning/zoning/municipal council approval is needed for a company to move forward with its plans.
Weiss did say, however, that representatives with the company previously went before Plymouth Township’s planning agency and zoning hearing board and received permission to remove three parking spaces that were not required spaces at the commercial location, and to increase the height of a fence surrounding the security unloading area and ramp leading to the rear of the building by two feet.
Weiss said the names of the company that were on the application and drawings were “Plymouth Meeting, PA (NWC Germantown Pike and Hickory) LLC” and “Pharmacann.”
A look at the Verilife website says that the parent company is Pharmacann, which bills itself as one of the country’s “largest vertically integrated marijuana companies, providing safe, reliable, top-quality marijuana products to improve peoples’ lives.”
The Plymouth Meeting area is home to two other medical marijuana companies – Ayr Wellness at 505 West Germantown Pike and The Apothecarium at 420 Plymouth Road, which was formerly known as Illera.
