SALEM, Va. (WFXR) — The first medical cannabis dispensary, Rise Salem, is set to open its doors to the Commonwealth in the coming weeks. Recent legislation allows for five dispensary locations across the state.
WFXR News and the Salem Roanoke County Chamber of Commerce had a chance to check out the dispensary.
Rise Salem will offer products such as ingestibles, oils, and vaporizers for medical cannabis patients only. The parent company, Dharma Pharmaceutical, chose Salem because it sees most of its out-of-town customers from this region. The parent company went on to tell WFXR News that it predicts the area is one of the largest if not the largest market in Virginia.
“Thrilled with the turnout today. The patient base is constantly expanding in the state of Virginia. We’re right now at about 27,500 patients, adding around 1,000 a week. So, we just see the demand increasing,” said Jack Page, Market Leader for Virginia for Dharma Pharmaceutical.
Rise Salem plans to open Aug. 2 at 1634 W. Main Street.
