CARVER – Capeway Cannabis already has its host community agreement with the town but will be speaking directly to the public about its plans at an upcoming community outreach meeting.
The community outreach program will be a time for the owners and management team to introduce themselves and discuss their proposed operation and its community impact.
The meeting will be held at 5 p.m. Thursday, July 1, at 307 Tremont St. Anyone interested in joining is asked to email shough@capewaycannabis.com for a Zoom invitation.
The Select Board voted 4-1 last November to approve the host community agreement for Carver’s first recreational marijuana retail location in South Carver, not far from the Wareham border.
The agreement calls for an annual community impact fee to the town equal to 3 percent of gross sales, no less than $35,000 as an annual charitable contribution from Capeway Cannabis to nonprofit organizations approved by the Select Board and $5,000 for educational purposes relative to the use of recreational marijuana.
Carver has since adopted a more formal host community agreement application process for retailers.
While town approvals have been granted, Capeway is in the process of securing a provisional license from the state’s Cannabis Control Commission.
