SAUGATUCK TWP. — A marijuana dispensary will open this weekend in Saugatuck Township.
The location will be New Standard’s seventh in Michigan, joining storefronts in Grand Haven, Edmore, Hazel Park, Muskegon, Nunica and Sand Lake.
“New Standard has had an incredible year of expanding retail operations across the state of Michigan,” said CEO Howard Luckoff. “We are thrilled to be opening our seventh location in Saugatuck and look forward to meeting our new neighbors.
“This space is stunning and a testament to the dedication the New Standard team has to set a new standard for cannabis culture across Michigan.”
The business will create 20 jobs. According to the business’ website, anyone over 21 with a valid ID will be allowed to purchase recreational cannabis products and anyone with a valid ID and medical marijuana card will be allowed to purchase medical products.
The dispensary at 6406 Blue Star Highway will open Friday, June 25. The newly built store features large windows, natural light and “an uplifting shopping experience.”
“We intentionally designed and built a facility that matches the characteristics of Saugatuck and creates a sense of place where locals and visitors will feel at home,” Luckoff said.
New Standard aims to create a welcoming space where product specialists educate and guide consumers on the variety of cannabis flower, pre-rolls, edibles, cartridges, concentrates and accessories available.
“New Standard has been intentional about creating a thoughtful, curated and comfortable environment where the cannabis connoisseur, the cannabis curious and everyone in between is able to come into our store or shop our website and feel like we’re here for them,” Luckoff said.
Customers can shop in-store or online for curbside pickup at anewstandard.com. Grand opening events include complimentary ice cream, free pre-rolls and music.
New Standard opened its first cannabis provisioning center in April 2020. The business anticipates having 10 locations by the end of 2021.
