A Portland man is facing murder and robbery charges after investigators say he shot an employee at a North Portland cannabis dispensary.
Daniel Mugisha, 20, is facing two counts of first-degree murder and three counts of second-degree murder. He is suspected of fatally shooting Michael Arthur, 44, during an armed robbery at Cured Green dispensary.
Mugisha is also charged with the attempted murder of four people in a Nov. 23 shooting near Northeast Portland’s Holladay Park. Investigators said he fired a gun and hit two people in that incident.
Arthur was working at the dispensary at North Lombard Street and Chase Avenue. Around 10 p.m., police were called to a report of a shooting at the business, and officers arrived to find Arthur with gunshot wounds.
Investigators say Mugisha was driving a stolen car on the day he shot Arthur.
Mugisha has pleaded not guilty to the attempted murder, robbery and stolen vehicle charges. He has not yet entered a plea for the murder charges, according to court documents.
Mugisha is also a suspect in an armed robbery at another dispensary in Northeast Portland on Jan. 1, according to a probable cause affidavit. In that incident, court documents say, Mugisha pointed a gun at the employee behind the counter but did not fire.
Mugisha’s next court appearance for the murder charges is scheduled for June 11.
